Introducing St Albert Chiropractor Dr. Karen Osburn
We are often asked, "How much experience can you have--you both appear so young?" To this we always respond that great chiropractic care keeps us young and energetic while we have a combined 21 years of experience in the chiropractic profession.
I first was introduced to chiropractic by working in my brother David's chiropractic office (there are four chiropractors in my family!) after graduating with an Honours Bachelor degree in Psychology. I studied psychology because I had a strong desire, and still do, to help understand people better. However, I quickly realized some of the most significant 'help' that was given for people was through dangerous drugs. This did not fit my philosophy of healing, and I came to a crossroads in my life. As soon as I began to work for David, my path became more clear. Because, you see, the chiropractic philosophy and methods taught and understood that healing come from within -- without drugs, without surgery, and by tapping into our bodies unbelievable ability to heal.
I saw the most amazing miracles working in David's office, and realized, after two years as a chiropractic assistant, that I wanted to pursue this further and become a chiropractor myself. It has been one of the best and most important decisions I have made in my life. It is by becoming a chiropractor, and witnessing the miraculous changes in my patients with their overall health, that I discovered my true mission and calling.
My husband and I made the move to San Jose, California to attend chiropractic college. Yes, it was amazing to live in California for five years, however the biggest gift I received was outside of school. You see, California is a Mecca for chiropractic seminars and some of the most successful chiropractors in North America. I attended over 100 seminars while in chiropractic college, made some of the most wonderful chiropractic mentors that have helped me grow and improve both as a human being and chiropractor.
Our overall goal and mission is to serve as many families as we possibly can with gentle and safe chiropractic care. We know that subluxations - or misalignments of the spine that interfere with the function of the nervous system - can happen as early as the birth process, so we see many babies and children in our practice. The most incredible moments of my day are when I see whole families, because I feel satisfied knowing that no one is left at home possibly suffering with subluxations. And most importantly, I get to watch children grow up to be strong, healthy, and happy!
My husband Ed and I have been together for 17 years, and I feel incredibly blessed to have met my soul mate for life who shares the same philosophy on health and life. When we're not in the practice, we enjoy walking our two dogs, Lola and Karma, doing yoga, running, CrossFit, reading, and being active every day. Our philosophy on life is that you must live each moment (as life moves too quickly), and fully participate each and every day in how you want your life to be.
I have been living the past 19 years with regular chiropractic care in my life, and I honestly cannot imagine my life without it. It has helped me to be stronger, healthier, more energetic, happier... I often feel younger at almost 40 than I did at 18! I follow the Paleo Diet lifestyle, and exercise every day with either Crossfit and/or walks with our dogs. I understand that health is an investment, and that the more I do for my body, the more I get back. The respect that I have for my body's ability to heal is so strong, that I would never put drugs in my body or have surgery unless it was to save my life. I feel fully in charge of my body and my health. And this is the same philosophy I teach all of our amazing Synergy Family Wellness Centre patients each and everyday. Don’t let time slip away without an extraordinary level of health--- why wait? Call us to see what chiropractic can do for you and your family!
